The Holy Spirit gently guides us in everyday life. Recently, Apple shared something from her daily life that really struck me—how the Holy Spirit inspired her to write down 100 of her husband’s good qualities. At first, I couldn’t help but think, 100? Really? But as she explained how quickly and joyfully she did it, I realized this was more than just a list—it was a reflection of gratitude, love, and the work of God in their family.
What amazed me even more was that Apple didn’t stop there. She went on to write 100 of her own good qualities and began observing her young daughter’s daily life with the same attentiveness, noting every little thing she admired. Each time she recognized a positive trait, she would pause to give thanks to God. Reading about this, I couldn’t help but cheer her on—it was clear that the Holy Spirit was guiding her.
It made me pause and ask myself, Could I do the same? Could I list 100 good qualities about myself? Honestly, probably not. I realized that even though I thought my personality had been refined over the years, subtle habits like complaining or expecting the worst were still there. These small ways of thinking often made me overlook the beauty in the people and things around me.
Through Apple’s sharing, I began to see what I had been missing. But I also realized it’s never too late to start fresh. If I allow God’s Word to shape me more deeply and draw closer to Him, I too can begin to see the true value He has placed in every person, in life, and in the world around me.
As 2025 comes to a close, I want to follow Apple’s example. I asked her to share her story in writing so I could post it here on my blog, both as a reminder for myself and as encouragement for others. Below is Apple’s testimony, followed by ten of the good qualities she has noticed in her husband, Zihao. May her story inspire you, and may the Holy Spirit speak to your heart as you read.
God’s Word Became the Light of Our Home
Time flies—it’s already the last season of 2025. Back in late August, my husband and I were talking about how we could take our family life to the next level. Every Sunday, God gives us precious words of truth, and we decided we wanted to study them more deeply—to guide our personal growth, our marriage, and the way we raise our child.
The message that week, on August 31, was about strengths and weaknesses. As I reflected and prayed, I asked, “How can our family live out this message better?” Then I felt a clear inspiration: “Write down 100 good qualities of Zihao—whom God has nurtured.” I was deeply moved, and my heart overflowed with gratitude. I immediately started writing, and before long, I had the full list of 100 qualities ready to send to my husband. As I remembered each one, I felt so thankful—not just for his strengths, but for God’s work and blessings in his life.
I thank God for letting me see such a beautiful testimony through our marriage. His Word reminded me not to forget how He first brought us together and how blessed we are to build a family under His guidance. Later, I also decided to write down 100 of my own good qualities. When I reached the last one, a phrase came to mind: “You know how to appreciate yourself.” That moment moved me to tears.
I remembered 21 years ago, when I first came to church, I was asked to write down my strengths and weaknesses. Back then, I filled the page with weaknesses—and couldn’t think of a single strength. But now, thank God, I can finally see the good in myself. I’ve realized that I am one of God’s precious creations.
As the message says:
“Wolmyeongdong’s landscape and environment originally had both great strengths and great weaknesses.
But once it was developed according to God’s design and its flaws were removed,
it revealed its most beautiful, mysterious, and majestic form—
becoming God’s eternal holy site.”
Over these 21 years, God has continually shaped me through His Word. I still have room to grow, but now I understand what this week’s message means: “Once you remove your weaknesses, your strengths shine brighter, and success follows.”
On this journey of life, I can rely on God’s Word—practicing, improving, and growing step by step. Moving from “only seeing my flaws” to “learning to appreciate myself” is truly a miracle God has worked in me.
Now, I pay close attention to my two-year-old daughter’s everyday life. Whenever I notice something good in her, I write it down and give thanks to God and the Holy Spirit for nurturing her. I’m grateful to see God’s wonderful creation and the special qualities He has placed in her.
I truly thank God—His Word has become the light of our home. Walking through life together with the Lord is such a joy!
